Selous River Camp

Selous River Camp

Discover a truly authentic Selous safari which doesn’t cost the earth.

Explore Africa's largest national park, the Nyerere National Park - part of the legendary Selous Game Reserve - from this award-winning safari camp.

Perfectly situated on the banks of the mighty Rufiji River, and right on the border of the Nyerere National Park, Selous River Camp offers breath-taking views, authenticity and value for money in a stunning setting.

From the first scents of earthy morning air to the bushbaby calls and soft owl hoots that drift into camp after dark, there’s a satisfying natural rhythm to a day at Selous River Camp.

We offer two accommodation options to suit your travel needs, both with breakfast, lunch and dinner included.

5 Riverbank "Mudhut" Rooms

A one-of-a-kind space to unwind and refresh. Secluded and spacious with river views and ensuite bathroom. Each room has a double bed, some with extra single beds or bunkbeds. Equipped with a fan and solar-power lighting.

4 Forest View Safari Tents

The affordable option. Comfortable canvas tents dotted in the shade of the camp's woodland. Equipped with twin or double bed and solar-power lighting. Bathrooms are separate and shared.

All room rates include full board.

Food and Drinks

Our menu offers authentic dishes made from a combination of locally-sourced and imported ingredients. Good, tasty food is especially important on safari and our chefs know how to put together some great dishes.

Candlelit dinners set beneath the starlit African sky are a highlight and provide the perfect time to relax and compare wildlife encounters with other guests.

Our riverbank bar has a chilled atmosphere and stocks Tanzanian beers, a selection of wines and spirits. It's a great place to kick back, relax and watch nature unfold.
